Your Tidesy device does not require this subscription. The device works fully on its own — on your home network, forever — with or without Premium. Tidesy Premium is an optional add-on that gives you cloud access to the same dashboard from anywhere outside your home network. Skipping it doesn’t disable a single feature on the device itself.

Tidesy Premium is the cloud-hosted version of your Tidesy dashboard — the same tide curves, weather, alerts, and conditions you see on your device, live in any web browser, from anywhere in the world. Open it on the kitchen iPad before heading to the beach. Bookmark it on your phone for the drive down. Send the link to the dog walker so they can check sneaker-wave conditions before they head out.
Your Tidesy device keeps doing what it’s always done locally, regardless of whether you subscribe. Premium is the option to take that dashboard with you when you leave the house.

How To Activate
- Open your Tidesy’s local dashboard at
tidesy.localon the same WiFi as the device. - Click the ☁ Cloud button in the top-right corner.
- Read the consent dialog (it lists exactly what gets sent — station IDs and display settings, nothing personal), then click I Agree, Enable Cloud.
- Click Copy Link to grab your dashboard URL. Bookmark it on your phone, email it to yourself, share it with the family.
- Open the link on any device — the 6-month free trial starts the first time you load it.
That’s the whole setup. No accounts, no apps, no separate login.
After Your Trial
When the 6-month trial nears its end, the dashboard prompts you with a Subscribe button that brings you back to this page. Checkout takes a minute. Once payment goes through, your dashboard switches to the paid state automatically — usually within a minute or two — and the trial banner is replaced by your renewal date.
If you decide not to subscribe, nothing breaks. Your Tidesy device keeps working exactly as it always has, and your local dashboard at tidesy.local stays available on your home network forever. Only the cloud dashboard becomes unavailable. You can resume any time by purchasing a subscription — the same dashboard link will start working again.
Privacy You Can Trust
Tidesy Premium is opt-in by design. Nothing leaves your device unless you click the Cloud button and accept the consent dialog. Even then, only what we need for the dashboard goes to the cloud:
- Your NOAA station IDs (so we can fetch the same public tide and weather data your device uses)
- Your display preferences (warning levels, preferred ranges, theme)
- A randomly-generated device token (the unique part of your dashboard URL)
- Your device’s MAC address (so we can recognise it after a factory reset)
What never leaves your device: your WiFi network name or password, your home address, your name, your email, or any browsing data. We don’t track you. We don’t sell anything. To stop the data flow at any time, factory-reset the device — your cloud-side data is purged within 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Do I need to keep my Tidesy device powered on?
- No. The cloud dashboard pulls live data directly from NOAA, NWS, and MET Norway — the same public sources your device uses. As long as you’ve enabled the cloud once, the dashboard keeps working even if the device is unplugged.
- Can I share my dashboard link with my family?
- Yes — that’s the whole point. Send it to your spouse, your kids, your friends, your dog walker. Anyone with the link can see the dashboard but cannot change your device’s configuration.
- What if I want to revoke the link I shared?
- Factory-reset the device. A new, different link is issued the next time you opt in to the cloud. The old link stops working immediately.
- Does this replace my local dashboard?
- No. Your local dashboard at
tidesy.localcontinues to work exactly as before, even if you never opt in to Premium. Premium is purely additive — the same data, accessible from outside your home network. - Does the subscription renew automatically?
- Yes — standard Shopify subscription behaviour. You can cancel any time from your order in your Tidesy account email; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Can I get a refund if I change my mind?
- Yes. Email us within 30 days of any charge and we’ll refund it, no questions asked. Your device, of course, keeps working.
- What happens to my device if I cancel?
- Nothing. Your Tidesy device is one-time hardware — the subscription is only for the cloud-hosted dashboard. Everything that runs on the device locally keeps running locally, forever.
