Core Features

🌊

Multi-Station Monitoring

Track up to three NOAA tide stations simultaneously. The display rotates through each one every six minutes, and the web dashboard shows all stations at once.

⚠︎

Weather Alerts

Real-time NWS alerts with four severity levels (Minor, Moderate, Severe, Extreme). Coastal floods, high surf, rip currents, tsunami watches, small craft advisories, and more. Color-coded banners on the device, detailed cards on the web dashboard.

🌡︎

Current Weather

Temperature, wind speed, and wind direction displayed alongside tide data on every view. Data from MET Norway's open weather API.

Night Mode

Configurable Hours

Set when night mode starts (PM) and ends (AM). During night hours, the screen dims to your chosen level. Day brightness is 1-100%. Night brightness is 0-100%.

Screen Off Option

Set night brightness to 0% and the screen turns completely off during sleeping hours. It comes back on automatically in the morning with fresh data. Perfect for bedrooms.

Automatic Firmware Updates

Tidesy checks for updates every time it boots. Critical fixes install automatically. Optional updates show a notification on the device and web dashboard so you can install when convenient. You can also update via microSD card. Every update is logged with date, version, and source.

Vestaboard Integration

Connect Tidesy to a Vestaboard Flagship on the same WiFi network and it sends live tide data to the split-flap display automatically. Three views (Detail, Large, Alerts), eight tile colors, and configurable update intervals. Learn more about the Vestaboard integration.

Tidesy Cloud (Optional)

Want to check your tides from outside your home network? Enable Tidesy Cloud with one tap on the local dashboard and get the same live view at app.tidesy.com in any browser, anywhere. Every device includes a free 6-month trial — no payment details needed to start — and continues as Tidesy Premium after the trial. Your device works fully on its own with or without cloud access. Learn more about Tidesy Cloud.

Environment Cards

Tidesy shows the conditions that shape a day at the coast right alongside the tide curve:

🌧︎

Rain Forecast

A color-coded rain strip below the tide chart shows the hourly precipitation forecast. From light drizzle to heavy downpour, plan your day at the coast at a glance.

☀︎

UV Index

The current UV reading and EPA category (Low / Moderate / High / Very High / Extreme), so you know whether to grab a hat. Auto-hides at night.

🌫︎

Air Quality

Current AQI with the EPA-colored category (Good through Hazardous), so you can decide whether to open the windows or take the morning run.

🌊

Waves & Water Temperature

Significant wave height (the average of the highest one-third — the value you’d hear in a marine forecast) and water temperature at the nearest NOAA buoy. Surfers and swimmers, this is your card.

🌞︎

Sun & Moon Overlay

Sunrise, sunset, and current moon phase drawn directly on the timeline. See at a glance whether the next low tide falls in daylight or after sunset.

Clamming View

For Pacific Northwest beaches with active razor clamming, Tidesy shows the upcoming WDFW-approved dig windows directly on the tide view — a green overlay band marks legal harvest hours around each evening low tide, with closure notes when a beach is under advisory or off-season. A separate schedule page lists every approved dig in date order.

Flooding (Inundation) Overlay

For stations where coastal flooding is a concern, Tidesy shows a flood-risk overlay on the detail view. When a forecast high tide is set to exceed NOAA minor, moderate, or major thresholds, a colored band appears across the at-risk hours — yellow for nuisance flooding, orange for significant impact, red for major flooding. Auto-hides when no threshold will be crossed in the next 24 hours.

Alert Area Maps on the Dashboard

NWS alerts include a polygon defining the affected geographic area. The web dashboard renders that polygon at full resolution alongside your configured stations, so you can see exactly how much of the surrounding region is covered and whether you sit near the edge or in the heart of the warning zone.

Live Weather Radar

Toggle live NEXRAD radar on any station map to see approaching storms. Updates every 5 minutes, covers the entire United States.

Private by default. No telemetry, no tracking, no ads. WiFi passwords encrypted. Tidesy Cloud is optional and opt-in — it shares only your station list and display preferences, never personal data. Read more about privacy.
